JFK speech
In the beginning of the speech, he proclaims that he has made the same oath before God that all presidents have before him. This is an appeal to tradition because he is saying he is doing the same thing that all o the previous presidents prior to him have done. Also, it is an appeal to Religion because he is saying he is a man that believes in God by going out of his way to mention that he is making an appeal to God, not us, but God. This is an appeal that works because it is true and because it is an appeal to tradition and religion, people get behind it.

bomb propaganda
The overt message is to duck and cover when you see a flash of light.
I dont think this is propaganda, nut instead a message to people everywhere meant to instill fear in their minds because they think a bomb might hit them at anytime. I think that the reason for the government doing this was because if the people are scared that these things might happen, then they will be sure to know what to do when it happens.

Oil
The overt message in this film is that oil is very important to our way of life. Not only does it play a role in the creation of products and serve as fuel for many of our items, it also serves as fuel for competition. And, competition helps a civilization move forward. The covert message is to support American oil companies because the competition helps move our country forward.

Propaganda
In the picture the woman is wearing red white and blue so it is obvious she is patriotic. The poster says the key to victory is in the kitchen. This message is directed at woman at home while their husbands fight. They are saying they can help from home, in their kitchens. But, not by eating more. They want people to eat less to save money for war bonds. This poster is from around the time when the government was pushing the sales of war bonds to help the troops, and this is an example of that push.
Clampdown
I think that the song is about the Holocaust. I think this because in the song there is a point where they are wondering if a man was a jew. This would only matter to the Nazi German's. Also, in the song it says they are creating "young believers". This can be compared to the Hitler Youth. Hitler and his armies used propaganda to persuade young people to follow in their cause. This also is an example of propoganda in the song. Propaganda is used to get people to agree with you message and in the song it says they convince them into being young believers.

Propaganda
The Communist plan for Hollywood was remarkably simple. (Part of it would be) “to gradually work
into the movies the requisite propaganda attitudes…to soften the American public’s hardening
attitude toward Communism.” RONALD REAGAN (1911-2004), U. S. President, Where’s The Rest of
Me, 1981
I think what the president is talking about in this quote is not really propaganda, but actually an attempt at persuasion. This is because in propaganda, there is an obvious message, but the point is to get people to think something else. In this situation, the communists are not trying to manipulate people into liking communism, but to show people communism from a new point of view in Hollywood to try and convince people that it is actually a good thing. I think that is the main reason why it is not propaganda because its purpose is not to manipulate but to persuade.
